The De La Garza Family welcomes you to learn about our business history.

Our bakery "Pastelandia Bakery" in San Antonio, Texas was established in July 20, 2001; being the 4th generation of bakers with vast experience and international prestige (Mexico & U.S.A.)

Miss Gloria D. De La Garza is the 4th generation family member who along with her parents Mr. Raul & Gloria De La Garza, run & operate "Pastelandia Bakery," located at 6019 Callaghan Rd., San Antonio, TX 78228.  Her biggest wish was to motivate her parents to move to the United States and use their vast knowledge and experience in the art of the pastry industry, telling them: "What you do here in Mexico you can do in the United States."

Gloria D. invited her parents to relocate to San Antonio, city where she was residing in pursuit of her education of a Masters Degree in Counseling, Psychology at St. Mary's University obtained in 2000.  Currently, aside from her profession, Gloria maintains the love and desire to continue with her family tradition.

Mrs. Gloria De La Garza, with 34 years of experience and being the 3rd generation, in 1982 with her husband Mr. Raul De La Garza, founded the "PASTELANDIA Bakery".  "Pastelandia" was considered the best bakery in both Laredos.

In 1995, they founded a second Bakery named "DON JOSE" in memory of her father Don Jose Antonio Rodriguez, from which as well as her eight siblings inherited the love for the pastry industry currently being 8 independent bakeries of the Rodriguez Family in both Laredos.

Sr. Jose Antonio y Dona Carmen Perez de Rodriguez are the 2nd generation.  Don Jose had a vision that gave the bakery a transformation in the techniques used to bake that won him National awards.

Dona Carmen at every moment supported her husband and taught her children to: "in everything you do add 'Love' as this is the most important ingredient that everything should not be without."

This is how in 1976 they co-founded the "Pasteleria Rodriguez Hermanos" with their children, who with much dedication, effort, and love were able to elevate the bakery to the utmost prestige in the city.

Don Jose Rodriguez & Mrs. Rosa Rodriguez were the founders of the first family bakery on February 18, 1944.  "Panaderia La Aurora" was the 2nd bakery founded in the city of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.
